There are many qualified applicants who would do the same job for less. If the current employee wants to keep their job; they accept the lower rate. That seems better than layoffs- that hurt the person, their family, and the country.

Why not accept a reasonable salary that would allow someone else to also have a job. Greed is what got us into this mess along with some pompous minded people who think they deserve more.
