Depends on the problem. If you need a tax attorney, get one. It will cost a great deal, but is the only way to resolve certain kinds of problems.

It's hard to deal with them directly. You'll get much better results working with a tax preparation company that specializes in helping taxpayers in your situation. It sounds like you might owe taxes from prior years -- I've linked below to a company that helps taxpayers deal with exactly that situation.
