I know that websites like www.ebay.com make money from credit cards and sales, but how do websites such as Google which is free make any money, I heard that they make millions, How?

from advertising called google adwords... I pay google to list my website on the first search page result, and also displaying my website on the google adsense network. So my website also listed on the advertising space that use google adsense network.

Advertising. All the little adds, pop-ups, preferred listings links, etc are all paid for by someone who wanted them placed there. The cost is usuually very cheap (a few cents to less than a dollar) depending how they want their add to run. But the company will pay every time that ad is shown or is clicked-on by a potential client. Multiply that by the millions of people visiting Google's site each day and you can see how Google makes a ton of money. Other websites do the same thing or just sell ad space on their site just as a standard magazine or newspaper would.
