Im doing my self assessment tax return and I can claim back the interest portion of the mortgage payments i have made on a house that i rent out. but i cant find out how to do it. any help would be appreciated.

Either ask your mortgage provider for a statement if you haven't got one or use an online mortgage calculator.
The link below is a mortgage calculator that clearly shows the amount in interest and capital repayments you pay according to the interest rate. |

if you do a search on amortization tables you might find the one that applies to your situation

You look at your mortgage bill for the rental and it says how much interest you've paid year-to-date. You also get a 10-98 (in the US, anyway) form at tax time that shows the amount of mortgage interest paid for that loan over the tax year.
